Mari Paula (National Dance Award 2015 | Funarte, Brazil) is a choreographer, dancer and teacher. In her most recent projects she investigates the body from the perspectives of urban intervention and cultural anthropophagy.
She is one of the co-founders of the Casa Selvática Cultural Center in Curitiba and has been a member of leading contemporary dance companies in Brazil. In Madrid, she is part of the MovLab 2018 group, a project in collaboration with La Casa Encendida.
For her dance creations she has received awards and mentions, such as: Conexão Cultura Brasil Intercâmbios, Prêmio Funarte de Dança klauss Viana, Prêmio Funarte de Teatro Myriam Muniz, Iberescena and Troféu Gralha Azul – Mention for best work and best direction (Cultural Center Theatre Guaíra, Paraná).
She has a Master’s Degree in Latin American Cultural Management (Universidad de Granada), is a specialist in Hybrid Arts | Art Criticism (Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná), and a graduate of Performing Arts (Faculdade de Artes do Paraná). She has given her workshop, “Anthropophagic Body,” in universities and dance centers in Brazil, Spain and France.
