Anemoi, is a piece inspired by the memories of the sea and the tactile sensations that sunlight, wind and water can produce on the skin, which is especially exciting for urbanites who enjoy this vision, hopefully, once or twice a year. A ritual that renews us and that we identify with rest and the joyful moments of life.
The different states of the sea and the wind that accompanies it, flat, curly, choppy, thick trees, marejadilla … breeze, gust, tornado, gale, trade wind, tramontana, sirocco, lift, west … give different textures to the movement of this choreography.
Very important for the piece is the music of David Peña Dorantes, which places us in a magical paradise. Flamenco piano, “jondo” and virtuoso, with an absolutely personal current and imaginative vision. The sound space is completed with the sound of castanets and the urban environment … a train, a bird, or the water from the fountains.
Anemoi, takes Spanish dance to the streets and shares with the public feelings of freedom, happiness, power and fulfillment through his immensely creative and unlimited language. A root dance, the Spanish one, that in constant evolution connects nature with the urban and the spiritual with the earthly. And traditional elements such as castanets and the Spanish cape, contrast with the use of a genderless wardrobe and with unconventional spaces of representation.
