Júlia Godino i Alexa Moya is comprised of the two dancers and choreographers Júlia Godino Llorens (1996) and Alexa Moya Panksep (1997), both born in Barcelona, Spain. They are currently part of The Backyard Collective, an emerging collective of dancers based in Antwerp, Belgium, within which they develop their own works. Recently, Júlia and Alexa have created their new project specifically for their creations as a duet.
The piece Picnic on the Moon, emerged in 2018 and premiered at the Festival Sismògraf in Olot, Spain. Since then it has been performed in several spaces and festivals around Belgium and Spain. Another work done with the collective is It’s gonna be horse, a piece that premiered last November, in Lier, Belgium, and is nowadays on national tour.
Júlia and Alexa met while studying at the Institut del Teatre of Barcelona (2009 – 2015) where they graduated. Then, they both continued their studies at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp (deSingel) where they obtained the Bachelor Degree in Dance. Until today they have stayed linked to create their own projects both as a duo and in the collective, and they are currently starting to work on a new piece for 2020.
Júlia and Alexa have been part of the production ” Grensgeval ” directed by Guy Cassiers and Maud Le Paldec (European Tour and Festival of Avignon 2017), ” VENN ” directed by Iris Bouche, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Damien Jalet (Antwerp 2016), amongst others.
Both of them are also working separately as freelance dancers in some projects for different companies.
