Cía. Nómada, created in 2000, develops as a fundamental pillar to cross the barrier of spaces. In this way, the company brings contemporary dance closer to all kinds of audiences and in all kinds of spaces, in the search for a better communication between artist and audience.
Cía. Nómada, directed by Roberto Torres, has its headquarters in the Teatro Victoria – Espacio Cultural in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Spain) from where exchanges with other creators who visit this center arise.
Nómada’s works have been: Viaje a ras de sueño, Historia de un soldado, Andanzas Imaginarias, Intramuros, Homo, Suite, Nómada velada de música y danza, Paisajes de la memoria, Que corra el aire and Tabula rasa.
He is currently active: ‘Los zuecos van hacia sus buenos hábitos’ and ‘Para regalo’ (two solos performed by Roberto Torres), the duet with Carmen Werner (Provisional Danza) ‘Una vez más’, the piece for 3 dancers ‘Dulces Bestias’ winner of 5 Premios Réplica de las Artes Escénicas de Canarias in 2018, the co-production with Provisional Danza of the piece for 4 performers ‘Instrucciones para mejorar la vida’, ‘El Pastor’, only premiered in January 2021 and the upcoming co-production with Costa Rica ‘Cualquier día fue ayer’.
The Canarian company has both national and international projection and has presented its pieces in Festivals in Mexico, Brazil, Madagascar, Ireland, France, Congo, Senegal, Argentina, Chile, Panama, Gabon, Guatemala, Uruguay, Venezuela, Bolivia, Peru, Russia, Costa Rica, Colombia and Spain.
